Oren Major – Ghetto Hymns (prod. by Squae Wicked)

Atlanta, GA recording artist Oren Major drops off “Ghetto Hymns” the second single from his upcoming project, “Black Privilege” (Release Date TBA). The piece showcases Oren’s penetrating lyrical composition and ability to offer a refreshing mix of honesty and melody over a soulful 808 infused choir backdrop produced by Squae Wicked. This track follows his previous single “Holy Water” which has already received over 50k streams since its August release and landed at the #3 spot in the “Now Trending” section for Hip Hop on AudioMack.

Oren Major, originally from St Louis, MO but currently residing in Atlanta, GA, is a self-described “aggressively conscious lyricist with a unique, raw style.” The content in his music connects with listeners on a deep-rooted level like that of a young Kanye West. His influences of J. Cole and Lauryn Hill also add to his sound with a refreshing amount of honesty, emotion, and vulnerability. He has been well received since the release of his debut album “Blinded by Ambition” in January of this year, skyrocketing to over 50k monthly listeners on Spotify. And although he is only recently beginning to earn recognition, he has been writing music for the past decade and is definitely here to stay.

The song highlights the girl going from being loved ubiquitously, to being completely overwhelmed by her own personal demons unable to cope with everyday reality, spiraling into a world of prostitution and drug/alcohol addiction. Sparing the audience of typical ‘Hollywood Endings’ the story ends with a dark, hair-raising dose of realism… Produced by the legend,Buckwild [Biggie, Big L, Jay-Z, Nas] who crafted a nebulous sound that compliments this narrative with impeccable precision.
